Your Prewedding Shoot

I want to make this as easy as possible.  I often get asked LOTS of questions about where, when, what, how we will be do a Prewedding Shoot.  I’ve specifically setup this page to allow you to have a full breakdown of what we will be doing.

I will help you choose a location, give you ideas on locations, outfits, times etc.  But most importantly, allow you to book a slot.  My shoots take place on specific days to allow me to give you the support you deserve as well as ensuring my diary isn’t over-run with multiple shoots/bookings.

The type of shoot?

I’m often asked where we should do your prewedding shoot.  But more importantly, I want you to think about the types of pictures you would like from your shoot?

If you’re getting married at a picturesque wedding venue, would you like to mix it up with a more urban type of shoot (this is extremely popular)?  Or do you want something more classical with greenery and trees?  There is no right or wrong answer and the key is to find something which you would like.

More importantly, the shoot is to allow us to get to know each other and I really want to know what makes you tick.  Therefore the location isn’t as important as you feeling comfortable (and I have tricks to help with this).

Questions to ask yourself:

Relaxed or Posed?

Urban or Parkland?

Local or National (or even International)?

Daytime of Nightime?

Fun or Serious?

Creative of Classical?

Editorial or Natural?

Location Ideas

I’ve worked in many different locations from all around London, to UK wide and even overseas.  Each has its pro/cons.  Your complimentary prewedding shoot will take place in a London location (and you can see some examples here).

This goes hand in hand with your Type of Shoot.  An urban shoot won’t take place in a park while a more classical type of shoot will be harder to achieve in an urban setting.  This is why I asked you to fill in the form above.

If you want to open up your options, I do offer a £400 upgrade to UK wide locations and even an International shoot (price is dependent on the shoot and my availability).

Outfits

Having the right outfit will have a bearing on your shoot.  We want to be as comfortable as possible while ensuring that we look good!  There are a few tips which will help you with choosing the right outfit(s).

Colours

Complimentary colours are important.   There is a science behind this and you can read all about it Complementary Colours.  Its been around for years and really helps designers design those amazing places/spaces you have seen.  It is also used in clothes.  But picking complementary colours – you really are able to have some fun but not clash.  For example, oranges and blues complement each other beautifully.

Casual or Formal

Starting with the look you are going for.  Think about whether your shoot is in the day or in the evening.  Are you naturally comfortable in front of the camera or not?

My advice is for most clients who don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera to wear something smart yet casual.  So think about jeans, nice dresses, simple tops/t-shirts, jumpers etc.

If you want to dress up and aren’t afraid of having your picture taken – then you can go for the Formal look (suits and formal dresses).  This mainly works in evening shoots – but we can also do it during the day.

Most of the clients go for the smart casual look.

No crazy designs

Keep your tops/outfits as plain as possible.  We don’t want to have pics where your top has massive logos/motifs.  Remember the shoot is for you guys and to feel comfortable.  So when you look at the pictures afterwards, your attention doesn’t want to be grabbed by the HUGE motif on your top.

Shoes

There will be an element of walking so think about comfort for your feet.  That said, heels for girls can really set off their outfit.  The also help with posture and look.  You can always bring trainers so you can walk around and we can give you time to get into the heels etc for the pics.  For the gents, nice trainers or semi casual shoes.  Something that works with your outfit without clashing with your partner’s look.

Prewedding Shoot Outfits

The right shoes will not only complement your outfit, but help with looks and posture.

Dress for the season

If the weather is grey – then wearing shorts isn’t going to be the best option.  Autumnal looks for autumn shoots.  Bright/colourful looks for the sunny/summer shoots.  Instagram is your friend as you can search for #ootd posts to see what people are suggesting for the time of your shoot.
